At a patients first appointment and before any treatment begins a new patient health check will be carried out which consists of a neurovascular assessment, a discussion on the patients medical and medication history, recurrent and current foot health concerns. This is essential to ensure a safe, professional experience for the patient. Following this there will be a discussion with the patient regarding the treatment pathway which will commence at this first appointment. This appointment lasts up to 60 minutes.
For patients with a 'high risk foot' there is increased chance of developing serious complications due to impaired circulation, lack of or altered sensation and increased vulnerability to injury or infection. As a registered nurse I led clinical assessment, treatment and monitoring of patients at risk, particularly those with diabetes, peripheral arterial disease and neuropathy identifying risk factors, early signs of ulceration or infection and implementation of preventative strategies.

A fungal nail infection is unsightly, often causing discolouration and crumbling and may affect one of more nails, commonly affecting the first toe nail, it may also affect surrounding skin.
